The Chapstor

Well...the move went okay. We experienced no major problems except for it being bitterly cold. When we loaded Thursday night, the temp was around 20 degrees with a good wind. Unloading Friday was not much better, but we survived. I am extremely grateful to the guys who came and helped me, and I am especially grateful to Dave who also followed me over the next day and helped me unload the whole thing. When God made Dave, He broke the mold. (and I have to mention Dacia who drove the whole way, too, so we did not have to drive Dave home - - thanks Dacia) Now I am in Oklahoma, and my family is in Arkansas, and we talk a lot on the cell phone. More than ever I see the hand of God in the timing of circumstances that caused us to spend this time apart. I know He is using is to prepare us for the shock of deployment.

A few days ago my wife and I were talking. We remarked about the fact that I am somewhat in between roles right now: not quite a pastor but not quite a chaplain. She quips "That means you are a Chapstor!" (Okay... now let me explain...she is going to be mad at me for putting that in the blog. Right now I am safe...because internet is not due to be hooked up in our new house for another week...after that...don't worry honey...it was cute ; ) As I unloaded in our new neighborhood in Arkansas, though, it hit me: when I introduce myself to the neighbors, what will I tell them I do? Realization hit pretty hard that I will tell them I am a chaplain in the Army because by the time I am over there, I will officially no longer be a (civilian) pastor.

Wow.

Until next time,
Chaplain Ken

Hi Chapstor, That sure is cute! I know how overwhelming all this is, but fortunately we serve a mighty God who can handle any need we may find ourselves faced with. Remember Philippians 4:19-My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in Glory in Christ Jesus. Certianly the emotions we face when we follow His will present us with a need for strength and comfort that only He can provide. We love you, and always know that we are in your corner. With much prayer and love, Mom and Dad

I am glad that your move went well. You and your family are in our prayers. My DH is the one that you emailed before your move concerning questions. We live in Oklahoma too. Love reading your blog.

You sure humble me with your words. Just let me say this...helping friends move is just something that you do. In a sick way, I actually enjoy things like that. The walkie-talkies, the road trip, the sweet potato fries...it's all good. And besides all that, you're a 1LT and I'm not.

Thanks for the prayers. Fellow Okies, too, huh? Cool! I look forward to talking more with DH.

TO 2LT DAVE
I can't say enough, and I sure can't fit it into a blog.
