Still Waiting to Close

Just an update on selling our house: we thought we would get to close Thursday or Friday, but it didn't happen. It will probably be Monday or Tuesday. We are not concerned; it would just be nice to have it over with.

I went to Arkansas for the last couple of days to spend time with my family. When I found out we would not close on the house I high tailed it. It was great to spend some time with them. I know we had only been apart for a week, but I tell you...when I walked out of that house last week to head back to Oklahoma, everyone of us felt like I had just stepped onto the tarmac to board a plane for the Middle East.

I telephoned my wife before going over. At first I wanted to surprise all of them, but then I was afraid of her deciding the same thing, and then we would pass each other on the interstate. I called her, but we decided to surprise the kids. She called me on my cell phone just as I pulled into the driveway and let me talk to my little girl. I hammed it up making it sound like it would be several more days before we would get to see each other and then walked through the door while still talking to her. She just stared at me for a few seconds and then screamed "Daddy!!" and ran over to me.

Then I took turns hugging all of them...two or three times.

It just doesn't get any better than that!
