The Next to the Last Good-bye

The good-byes and the lasts (things that we do and afterward say "That is the last time we will do that) are starting to roll around more quickly. Last Sunday, I preached my Sunday morning sermon for the next to the last time. I did a look back at our seven and a half years of ministry here. It was an emotional time. Sunday night I did a mini concert. It was our last Sunday night with these great people.

Last night we went out to eat with our good friends David and Dacia. It was the last time we would go out to eat with them before we move away for good.

Tonight was our last Wednesday Bible Study with our congregation. But the big one is a few days away: our last Sunday with this wonderful group of people period.

On the lighter side: we went to a local military installation yesterday. We were looking at some outside displays of some Howitzers. One of the guns had a peculiar bracing at a point where the parts of the structure came together: it was metal plate with a circular hole right in the middle of it. There were two such braces - one on each side of the structure. My youngest runs up to it and says "Wow...Dad...look...this one has a cup holder!"

Hey...leave it to the Army to think of everything ;)

Our Lord knows so well how to help us through each step of the road that He leads us to walk! He even works through the comments of his little child to lighten the way for His older children. What a great God we serve! Know that you are always and very much in our prayers. Love you, Mom and Dad

Thanks mom and dad. It reminded me a little of the time when we were at Gettysburg and I asked dad if those were the cannons they used when he was in the war.

CH Ken,
I know that Sunday will be a great "last" day. My wife and I have been doing the same thing here lately. There have been quite a few lasts, but also a lot of firsts. We'll be praying for you.
