Two momentous things occur today: I take my wife to get her military ID, and we are having a camp out with our church family - our last big hurrah.
Going to get the ID brings mixed feelings. We look forward to it on the one hand because it holds a certain allure and excitement. Then on the other hand it strikes us that we are one step closer to this gargantuan (now...it is not every day you get to use that word) life change.
Then the camp out. We have really come to love this dear group of people. Leaving is not an easy thing. We are having a church wide camp out, and about 40 to 50 folks have signed up to come. This is about half of our average Sunday attendance so it is a pretty good turnout. It will be the last big thing I do with these people. We have designated it a camp out and prayer retreat. I will teach a couple of lessons on prayer. Then I have only two more Sundays with them and only one more week in the office.
Even though leaving hurts, I choose to look expectantly toward the future. Jesus left His home for me. Then after making another home here and developing close relationships, He left here to go back to his rightful home. He has not asked me to do anything for Him that He has not already done many times over for me. So I will look to the future expectantly and enjoy this last hurrah with some of the greatest people I have ever known.

I'll be praying for you this weekend. I know it will be a great time with your church family. Hope all goes well with getting your wife's ID. One question: What all did you need to do prior to obtaining you own ID? I am hoping to get that squared away in the next couple of weeks.
This weekend will be a very special time for all of you. I'm so glad that it is happening at this time in your new assignment from our Lord. He truly takes care of everything and is always there for us. This will always be a special memory for you. Thanks a lot for the prayers. The campout was great. As for the ID, after my commissioning service, I faxed CH Goode a copy of the oath which they in turn entered in the system. I had to wait about 24 hrs for the system to reset then I was able to go to any place that processed military ID's and they were able to issue the ID. I got mine at a local Air Force base. We got my wife's at a local Reserve center.

Thanks as always. Our little one was a fire bug so we had to keep a good watch on him. He was also a bully trying to knock other hids off of tricycles. Our little girl thought she was a teenager. We had a really good time.
